Retake the ASVAB or not?

I want to join the navy. I scored a 51 on the asvab and I have been to MEPS twice and still no jobs. My recruiter wants me to take the asvab again to get a higher score but I want to be a gunners mate and a 51 is good enough for that rate. I really dont want to take that long *** test again. If I dont get a job next time I got to MEPS im switching to a different branch. Not sure what to do...
