Accessing HTTP/FTP services beyond a proxy?

I have a website and an FTP server hosted on my laptop. I connect to the internet via a ADSL modem, which I presume (I only have limited knowledge of the subject) 2 network adapters. The IP to which my laptop connects to is 192.168.1.1, but when I check it on websites, something else shows up. That means that I am sending requests to the outside world and modem does the redirection work back to me. What I want is to allow my friends to connect to my laptop, and check out my website. Is it possible to do that?
