Does anyone else think obi wan would have been a powerful sith?

i mean he was just a padawan when he finished Maul off after he killed qui gon jin... he was angered when he saw qui gon die and he attacked maul with alot of rage.. u can tell in his face.. in my opinion, palpatine should have focused on him.. what do u think?
